MetLife Release Train Engineer Lead in Cary, North Carolina

The Team You Will Join

This is an integral role within MetLife’s Corporate Systems Technology organization supporting the Employee Experience organization which touches every employee of MetLife. This is an exciting time to join the Corporate Systems Technology organization as we collaborate with business leaders and continue to transform MetLife’s Employees Experience.

The Employee Experience (EE) team consists of several technology focused teams supporting the enterprise. The selected candidate will manage EE Agile practices across all teams and be responsible for Senior Level product and process reporting for all teams within our portfolio.

The Opportunity

This role requires the chosen candidate guide our Agile Delivery Model change across multiple Corporate Systems ARTs. It will involve a Lean-Agile change, training leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in the new mindsets and processes. The right person will help adapt SAFe to the organization’s needs, documenting and standardizing practices while providing guidance and supervision in agile ceremonies. This is a great opportunity to lead the development of our organization while ensuring Corporate System strategies are consistent with MetLife’s Enterprise goals.

To be successful in this role, you need to possess solid leadership and facilitation skills. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is in charge of establishing a uniform process across the EE portfolio, delivering reports to senior level managers, supporting value delivery, and promoting continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with Digital Solutions, IT Service Operations, HRIT and Global Security in an environment where every input is valued, and every viewpoint is listened to. While supporting the transformation of the EE portfolio teams, the appropriate candidate will also partner with other Corporate Systems organizations and the Global Tech and Operations entities to deliver consistency across the enterprise.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):

  • Lead Planning Interval (PI) events including setting the schedule and agenda for all teams and ARTs in Target Process, reviewing planned features vs team capacity and Conducting PI Retrospectives

  • Coordinate Prioritization and PI Objectives that incorporate stake holder feedback, meaningful (SMART) PI Objectives in Target Process and conduct Inspect-and-Adapt workshops to review results

  • Oversee Sprint planning to ensure Product Owners and Scrum Masters are following SAFe SCRUM ceremonial meetings

  • Coach Employee Experience leadership in the formation of SAFe persistent Agile teams for efficiency and reporting

  • Manage ART Estimation, Project Interdependencies, Velocity and Capacity through coaching and Inspect-and-Adapt workshops

  • Develop effective Target Process Management Reports that assist leaders in managing their respective ARTS

  • Create and maintain Senior management scorecard reporting that tracks the progress, quality, and value delivery of the ARTs and provides actionable insights for improvement

  • Facilitate cross-team and cross-functional collaboration by establishing and hosting regular meeting cadence with senior level managers and stakeholders

  • Foster a culture of innovation, empowerment, and continuous learning

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline

  • SAFe certification

  • 5+ years of experience in Agile and SAFe practices

  • Solid experience in software development, testing, project management, or product management

  • Experience in Agile transformations

  • Strong technical and business acumen

  • Knowledge of Target Process and the ability to create views to increase usability

  • Ability to create complex muti team AZDO queries. Export results to excel to create pivot table to validate Target Process.

  • Analytical ability to find discrepancies between Target Process and AZDO
