Title: Global Investigations Unit Program Management

Location(s): New York, NY

Setting: Hybrid

Reports to: VP Global Investigations Unit, Compliance Risk Management

Travel: Limited

The Team You Will Join

Compliance Risk Management (CRM) delivers a compliance risk framework that enables the businesses and functions to comply with applicable internal and external rules and regulations and maintain risk levels within MetLife’s risk appetite. CRM provides constructive challenge to the businesses and functions, partnering closely with them to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a culture of compliance. CRM is part of Global Risk Management (GRM).

The Global Investigations Unit (GIU) is an independent investigative unit that conducts internal investigations, handles internal allegations and suspicions related to fraud and unethical behavior, develops the enterprise-wide framework for concern handling, and partners with internal groups to drive root cause discovery and remediation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the VP and Head of GIU, the Global Investigations Unit Program Management will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end execution of key GIU Program initiatives, including effectively managing the GIU incident response team in the evaluation of matters reported to the GIU, and the determination of the assignment of such matters to the appropriate MetLife stakeholders for handling. The AVP will have a leadership role in preparing reports and metrics for distribution to senior management, business committees, internal and external auditors, and regulators. This person will play a critical role in the development and administration of GIU training, policies and procedures, and in the implementation and execution of the enterprise-wide framework for concern handling. This individual will also be expected to participate in reviews and regulatory examinations, the handling and management of GIU investigations, and work closely and collaboratively with GIU Regional Leads, as well as other colleagues, in the handling of investigations. Thus, effective communication and interaction with internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this role.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Manage the incident response team in the evaluation and assignment for investigation of matters reported to the GIU, and the administration of the GIU’s case management system.

  • Oversee and coordinate reviews and regulatory examinations, including participating in meetings and responses to information requests.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, including state fraud reporting and fraud plans.

  • Identify and report on trends, significant matters, and compliance issues to senior management.

  • Develop charts/analyses to highlight trends, patterns or practices arising from GIU investigations.

  • Participate in the investigation, resolution and follow-up of matters. Liaise with partners in CRM, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal and other functions, as appropriate, to track and report on lessons learned, root causes, disciplinary decisions, and corrective actions/remediation.

  • Drive consistency in the end-to-end GIU investigations process through the oversight of the intake, review and assignment of matters to the appropriate partners, and constructive challenge of GIU investigation reports.

  • Assist with other GIU initiatives as needed.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Lead two direct reports.

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
