Role Value Proposition:

We are seeking an experienced paralegal to join the in-house Legal Services Team of paralegals and administrative associates to support the Legal Affairs department and work closely with our Investments attorney. This paralegal position will primarily support the Alternative Investments Unit supporting the Agriculture/Farm and Ranch sector of the Investments Section in the Law Department and will, also have the opportunity to support other areas of the department. This paralegal will support Business Partners servicing the Agriculture Portfolio and Legal Services Team initiatives. We expect that this role will support workflow for many of the asset classes supported by the Investments Section. In particular, this post will work directly with the Business Loan Managing Group and support the team of attorneys handling real estate mortgage loan closing and the LatAm closing team.

Key Responsibilities:

This paralegal is expected to provide support to attorneys in our Overland Park Office and handle all related administrative duties for that office. The core responsibilities for this role includes and not limited to, assisting with transaction closing; drafting of partial releases, participation certificates and other key transaction documents; coordinating for the engagement of outside counsel for Farm and Ranch matters; the handling of matter creation and outside counsel billing; and supporting our LatAm closing team. This role reports to on-site attorneys and an off-site manager of paralegals.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Corporate transaction experience including tracking transaction milestones from beginning to end, including due diligence, transaction documentation to post closing matters

  • Ability to review and negotiate NDAs for various practice groups

  • Experience working with outside counsel to coordinate activities and review bills

  • Ability to execute legal research under direction of attorney – locating and providing copy of statute or case

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, organization and skilled at proofreading documents

  • Notary Status will be required for this position in order to notarize closing documents

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, eDocs, SharePoint, Outlook, Workshare Compare, Westlaw, Lexis

  • Strong record of success in collaborating with diverse personalities and operating in a team environment

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish preferred
