Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintain a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago.

This position is responsible for a wide range of functions specific to the insurance and event risk management of MetLife Investment Management’s (MIM’s) commercial mortgage lending and equity managed account portfolios. Will support the insurance and event risk management team to increase efficiencies, optimize protection and minimize costs. In this role, the Analyst is tasked with approving borrower insurance for the commercial lending platform, helping to coordinate exposure gathering for property and liability insurance renewals, allocation methodologies, and assisting with claim reporting. This includes frequent interaction with MIM regional office colleagues, borrowers’ representatives, insurance brokers, service administrators and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review insurance in place relative to requirements for all commercial mortgage loan closings.

  • Manage allocation and invoicing process for property and liability policies across various MIM equity insurance programs.

  • Coordinate evidence of insurance with lenders on equity real estate investments, and to meet various vendor contractual requirements.

  • Collaborate with insurance and event risk management team on all aspects of data collection, marketing, and placement of asset specific condominium association policies.

  • Work with outside consultants regarding claim management, identify trends, and implement loss control measures to mitigate losses.

  • Provide advice and guidance to regional office teams, borrowers, partners, and portfolio management teams.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to review and comprehend contractual requirements

  • Basic analytical skills including experience with Excel

  • Travel varies as needed, approximately 5% of work time annually

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, preferably real estate or investments focused
