The Finance Manager, within the Global Securities Controls and Accounting department is a proactive, highly motivated, analytical, and technical contributor to the team. The manager will review and improve finance and accounting processes, oversee quarterly controls and financial trending analysis. Utilize knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting treatment for investments and financial products and will support the team’s initiatives to develop and enhance automated solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain finance/accounting subject matter expertise in relevant investment areas such as fixed maturity and equity securities.

  • Understandthe complex nuances of accountingand reporting for assigned Investment areas and entities.

  • Review GAAP/ STAT/ IFRS/ Solvency accounting controls,financial data trending analysis, ensuretimely processing and accuracy of financial results.

  • Partner with other investments teams

  • Utilize existing technology and contribute towards MetLife’s continuous improvement efforts to automate processes, increase efficiency, and provide quality solutions.

  • Communicate and present results to leadership effectively, using concise summaries and recommendations.

  • Research and document GAAP and STAT issues, as required.

  • Provide GAAP and STAT internal/external audit support.

  • Ability to promptly acquire an understanding of the organization's operations and its accounting systems and ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 5+ years of experienceinoneormoreofthefollowingkey areas:

  • CorporateFinance and or Accounting in a public or private company environment

  • Insurance industry experience.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP/STAT accounting concepts, principles, and practices.

  • Financial reconciliation and trending analysis experience

  • 2+years of experience managing people and projects.

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, embedded formulas, etc)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with success in setting goals and competing priorities.

  • Strong analytical, technical and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance orrelevantfield preferred.

  • Proficiency in business intelligence and automation platforms such as Alteryx, SQL, PowerBI, etc. preferred.

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems (PAM, BI Publish, PeopleSoft, Other Oracle products) preferred.
