Description and Requirements
RoleValueProposition:
TheManager–Tax,Investments&InsurancewillreviewandimproveUSincometaxprovisioncalculations and documentation, and maintain quarterly tax adjustments, tax basis, and deferred tax assets/liabilities for assigned entities and investment portfolios.Utilize knowledge of ASC 740, tax accounting for investments and financial products, and will support the Tax Department’s initiatives to develop and enhance automatedsolutions.
KeyResponsibilities:
• DevelopandmaintainTaxsubjectmatterexpertiseinrelevantinvestmentareassuchasfixedmaturity and equity securities, mortgages, real estate, joint ventures, leveraged leases and derivatives.
• UnderstandthecomplexnuancesbetweenbookandTaxaccountingandreportingforassigned Investment areas and entities.
• Prepare/reviewUSincometaxprovisionandprojections,ensuredocumentationisproperlymaintained.
• LiaisewithanddefertoothersinTaxDepartment,includingTaxcounsel,tosupporttaxcontroversy, transactions, special projects, tax return preparation and review.
• UtilizeexistingtechnologyandcontributetowardsMetLife’scontinuousimprovementeffortsto automate processes, increase efficiency, and provide quality solutions.
• CommunicateandpresentresultstoSeniorTaxManagementeffectively,usingconcisesummaries and recommendations.
• ResearchanddocumentTax,GAAPandSTATissues,asrequired.
• Collaboratewithotherswhoarenotdirectreports.
• Abilitytopromptlyacquireanunderstandingoftheorganization'soperationsanditstaxaccounting systems and ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

◦ DerivativesAccountingandorLeveragedLeaseexperience
◦ Publicaccountingorconsultingfirm,workingasadedicatedTaxprofessional
◦ TaxAccountingexperienceandworkingknowledgeofthefollowingindustries:Insurance, Banking, Lending, Financial Institution, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, Real Estate, REIT
• 2+yearsofexperiencemanagingpeopleandprojects
• ProficientwithMSExcel,Access,WordandPowerPoint

• MAinTaxationhighlydesired,Bachelor’sdegreeinAccountingorrelevantfieldpreferred
• CPAhighlydesired
