The Team You Will Join

The MetLife Marketing organization is evolving to enable our Next Horizon strategy. The organization has outlined a new vision – to be a customer-centric and data driven growth engine that takes accountability for contributing meaningful enterprise value and building customer equity. The organization is on a journey to create a high performing team enabled by a set of modern capabilities. This will require us to change the organization’s expectation of marketing as well as shift the Marketing focus areas. The expected outcomes of this evolution are 1) growth – marketing as an investment with predictable contribution to enterprise value, 2) efficiency/effectiveness through a data driven DNA, 3) capability maturity leading to sophisticated technical and strategic capabilities and 4) talent alignment to enable a modern, agile marketing organization that nurtures, develops, and attracts top talent.

Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) Marketing

MetLife Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) helps institutional customers create a more secure financial future for themselves and their key stakeholders. To deliver on this challenge, the RIS business has developed and refined a disciplined, long-term approach that leverages a mix of investment opportunities, protection strategies and guaranteed income solutions. The products in our portfolio include annuities, funding agreements, life insurance, and stable value investments, all of which are delivered with excellence through our decades of knowledge and deep understanding of market needs.

As a strategic partner to the RIS business, the RIS Marketing Team is charged with developing and executing sophisticated marketing programs that build awareness of our leadership in the retirement space and improve engagement with Plan Sponsors and Intermediaries to help build remarkable and enduring relationships that drive revenue growth.

The Opportunity

Directly responsible for overseeing the development, integration, market execution and measurement of all marketing strategies and programs across seven unique product segments that comprise the Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) business. With the explicit goal of driving ongoing business impact, this leader is charged with managing a team of marketers within an agile model to optimize and expand current sales enablement, customer engagement, thought leadership, and competitive intelligence practices, while also developing new marketing capabilities in areas including, but not limited to, demand generation, experience and solution design, and data analytics that uncover and guide new opportunities. Critical to this role is driving digital marketing transformation to improve brand reach, customer targeting, personalization, and overall efficiency in the marketing delivery model.

This position reports to the SVP & Chief Marketing Officer for Corporate and Institutional Marketing and is a member of the Marketing Senior Leadership Team. Success requires delivering top-line revenue growth and long-term results by translating business goals into prioritized marketing strategies and objectives, establishing meaningful metrics and KPIs, and driving detailed analyses around impact and areas of continuous improvement. Foundational to this is deepening customer understanding through primary research, voice-of customer, and data analytics while also expanding the frequency and breadth of market insights to more effectively deliver against customer needs and win against competition.

Successful go-to-market planning and execution demands that the leader be adept at building and managing strong working partnerships within a heavily matrixed environment that includes RIS Business Segment Heads, RIS Sales/Client Teams, RIS Product Teams, RIS Customer Experience, Legal, Operations, IT and Global Brand & Marketing Functions. Experience working in an agile marketing model is an additional strength that will be beneficial to enable new capabilities, establish best practices, and expanded the set of resources required for greater flexibility and speed in the delivery of marketing campaigns and programs.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future:

· Provide leadership, strategic focus, and vision to drive meaningful customer engagement that improves product awareness, consideration, and an affinity for RIS as a preferred solution provider.

· Advise, consult, and serve as a member of the RIS senior leadership team in the development and execution of short term and long-range business plans that leverage the use of an expanded set of marketing capabilities and tactics to drive growth.

· Develop and lead a team of marketing professionals covering areas ranging from competitive intelligence to customer insights to customer marketing strategy while driving a consistent focus on experimentation, flawless execution, and measurement / ROI.

· Establish strategic marketing objectives, prioritize action steps to achieve business goals, and communicate the marketing plan to key stakeholders. In support of this, develop and manage the annual marketing budget and marketing resource allocation across the businesses to deliver against revenue and earnings targets.

· Drive increasing demand of RIS solutions through the strengthening and scaling of lead generation capabilities that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of customer prospecting for the benefit of the sales teams. This includes leveraging email campaigns, event and conferences, social media, webinars, and more.

· Refine and strengthen the approach to thought leadership, content strategy, and content development as the foundation to driving customer engagement. Build a ‘co-create’ culture across the business as an enabler for deepening the list of topical areas, defining our in-market POV, and outlining the annual roadmap.

· Champion and drive customer experience design and UX/UI practices throughout the RIS business as a critical new marketing capability and enabler for digital delivery. This includes leveraging rapid customer feedback platforms to test product concepts, communication design, and user interfaces.

· Deploy a range of methods to gain customer insights that uncover and prioritize high-value opportunities where unique customer value can be delivered. This includes customer segmentation, product positioning, selling and buying journeys, and value chain mapping.

· Build maturity in data collection, analysis, and metrics reporting as a strengthened pillar of marketing and communications. Cultivate competencies in data management, data analytics, and data-driven insights to outperform the competition, deliver on customer expectations and enhance the strategic playbook.

· Strengthen the approach to business intelligence around how trends and market activity are discovered, how knowledge is analyzed for impact on the RIS business, and how information is shared and communicated. The goal is to make intelligence more actionable, and a driver of competitive response and product innovation.

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):

· Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field

· Minimum of 15+ years of financial services and/or insurance experience that includes depth of B2B marketing specifically within institutional retirement (knowledge of asset management is a plus).

· Experience developing strategic vision for a function and prioritizing the critical needs required to lead and motivate a team to best-in-class delivery

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated presentation skills
