This position, Senior Analytics Associate, reports to the head of Risk & Analytics in Investments Operations. The group owns risk analytics, scenario analysis and product management for derivatives and securities. The individual will have a high level of fixed income analytics expertise and serve as the primary analytics contact for fixed income investments. The individual will have a high level of fixed income expertise and work within a team environment to both contribute to and lead certain team initiatives and critical business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage specific projects relating to research and/or global regulatory initiatives which impact the company such as Libor cessation. Contribute to expanding capabilities to support growing business needs and associated new products.

  • Review valuations and analytics across derivatives systems. Development and on-going support for structured derivatives that are not supported by the system of record.

  • Review analytics such as duration, convexity and OAS for all fixed income assets such as bonds and mortgage loans on a monthly basis before analytics are marked as final for consumption. Perform reasonableness checks, identify analytics exceptions and overrides if necessary. Fix data issues as needed.

  • Provide signoff for monthly scenario analysis and liaise with Risk, Treasury, IT and our vendor to oversee asset shock scenario processes such as Economic Capital, Stress testing and parallel/combination shocks. The results are used by Risk, Treasury, front office trading desks, portfolio managers in local countries, and Investments Finance for rating agency surveys. Review and validate scenario analysis package for reasonableness by performing coverage checks, asset count checks, shock sampling, analytic based shock MV checks and period over period comparison. Follow up with outsourced vendor for investigation and possible scenario recalculation in the event of significant or unexplainable differences, and for ongoing process improvement.

  • Fulfill regular reporting requirements for asset analytics such as Market Risk Disclosure, Solvency II, Pension shock analysis, and rating agency surveys such as S&P, A&M Best and IAIS.

  • Collaborate with Front Office, Risk, PMU, Data Governance, IT and vendor as necessary. Deal with incoming ad hoc queries regarding analytics.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 8+ years of experience

  • Understanding of most asset classes, e.g. Investment Grade, Non Investment Grade, High Yield, Bonds, Mortgage Loans. Good understanding of derivatives and valuation models is desired.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team environment. Must be able to work independently, self-motivated, eager to learn

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills


  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Finance, and/or Mathematics, MBA or MS strongly preferred

  • High level of proficiency in Blackrock Aladdin
